Let me be real with you…. if I don’t reset my week, it resets me. And not in the peaceful, spa-day kind of way. I’m talking dishes piled high, toddler meltdowns, missed homeschool lessons, and me staring at my calendar like it personally betrayed me.
That’s why every Sunday, I carve out time to do a weekly reset that helps me walk into Monday with a little more peace (and a lot less chaos). It’s not perfect, but it’s real…and it’s saved my sanity more times than I can count.
Here’s exactly how I reset my week as a stay-at-home mom of three:
1. Clean Up the House (But Don’t Go Overboard)
I’m not deep-cleaning the baseboards here….just tidying up the spaces we use every day. I:
- Do a full kitchen wipe-down
- Reset the living room (fluff pillows, fold blankets, vacuum if needed)
- Clean out the fridge (because something always expired)
- Tidy bathrooms and swap out towels
This makes Monday feel like a fresh start instead of a continuation of last week’s mess.

2. Laundry Catch-Up (Or At Least Try To)
I try to make sure everyone has clean clothes for the week. That means:
- One load of kids’ clothes
- One load of adult laundry
- Wash bedding if I have time…we love clean sheet Sunday!
If it doesn’t all get done? Oh well. At least we have underwear.
3. Plan the Weekly Menu
Feeding five people every day? That requires a plan. I keep it simple:
- 4–5 dinner ideas (the other nights are leftovers or something easy)
- Breakfasts and lunches that I can rotate
- Check the pantry and freezer for what we already have
Then I build my grocery list around that and save myself from midweek store runs.

4. Review My Calendar
- Check appointments, errands, or homeschool plans
- Write down any important events for the week
- Block out time for workouts or self-care (yes, it counts!)
5. Reset My Spaces
This one is for me:
- Clear off my bathroom counter
- Refresh my nightstand (yes, I wipe it down and remove the snack wrappers)
- Prep workout clothes for the week
- Put a fresh notebook or planner page out on my desk
These small resets help me feel like I’m not starting the week already behind.

6. Mental Reset (The Underrated MVP)
- Pray or journal about the past week
- Set 1–2 goals for the week ahead
- Give myself permission to not get everything done….because I won’t.

Motherhood can feel like a never-ending cycle, but giving yourself an intentional reset, even if it’s messy or interrupted a hundred times, can truly change the tone of your entire week. You don’t need perfection. You just need a rhythm that works for you.
You’ve got this, mama!
