I thought having a productive morning meant working out and getting all my chores done before the kids got up at 7am and for several years of my life as a mom, I also found it difficult to find time to get everything done…
I’ve been overwhelmed, exhausted, overstimulated….
and that’s because I never actually had time to breathe.
So what changed…
I started making my mornings more intentional…
I wanted more peace and less overwhelm. I’m not trying to have a perfect morning routine…
So here is a realistic look at my routine and why it works!
Why I Wake Up At 6:00am
This is the only quiet time I get in my house. I’m able to start the day instead of of chasing it and it gives me time for ME before giving to everyone else.
My 6:00am-7:30am Routine (step-by-step)
Wake Up & Quiet Time
I normally try to get up between 5:30am and 6am. It takes me a while, honestly. Lol
I try not to scroll on my phone first thing in the morning. There have been times I would start checking emails and I would end up on TikTok and before I knew it I had already lost 30 min of my morning.
I then make my coffee and sit in silence for a minute….most of the time I’m still half asleep.

Bible Study/Personal Time
This has become a part of my daily routine…especially because it helps with grounding my mindset before the day starts.
Sometimes it’s journaling, sometimes it’s reading or a devotion.
I am currently doing Bible in a Year with Kanoe Gibson. I will link her YouTube channel here: Heart Dive Podcast

Light Homemaking Reset
Of course, my morning wouldn’t feel productive if I didn’t complete any chores so I try to do a few little things around the house to make my morning a little smoother.
That includes emptying the dishwasher, I start a load of laundry, I do a quick kitchen reset (if needed), I open all the blinds to start letting some natural light in and I light a candle or two and start my diffuser…

Step Outside for Some Fresh Air
There is just something about walking on your front porch with a hot cup of coffee. I normally check on my garden and water some plants.
This is a slow, quiet way to start my morning before the house wakes up.

Animal/Homestead Chores
My kids are responsible for feeding the animals and they LOVE doing that, but I still enjoy getting some cuddles so I just let them out a little early and let them roam around until the kiddos come outside later in the morning. It’s never a full chore session but I do a quick health check as well…

Transition into Mom Mode
I normally start breakfast prep at this time. The kids get up around 7:30am and my husband is already getting ready to walk out the door.
I try to meal prep breakfasts for both my husband and kids so that mornings are a bit easier, especially with the toddler running around.

Why This Routine Works for Me
I’m not rushing the second I wake up.
My house already feels “started’ and I’ve already poured into myself first.
It makes homeschooling and homemaking flow A LOT better…
Not every morning is perfect; some mornings feel slow and some still get chaotic from time to time. But the goal isn’t perfection..it’s rhythm. Even doing 2-3 of the things makes a difference.
Tips If You Want To Try It
Start by waking up just 15-30 minutes earlier than you already do.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Pick 2-3 habits first…for example: coffee + quiet + dishwasher = enough
and build from there….
You don’t need a perfect routine to have a peaceful morning.
